ATON PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS – S-201 DATA PRODUCTION TRAINING, IALA HQ, 23-27 Feb 2026

This course introduces the principles and workflows for producing S-201 Aids to Navigation data within the S-100 framework, covering the S-201 Product Specification, relevant modelling languages, and the transition from legacy formats. Participants gain practical skills to create, manage, and validate S-201 datasets in line with international standards.

VTS Seminar, Gijon, Spain

June 2, 2026

The Seminar on VTS Experiences and Challenges offers a dedicated forum for VTS personnel to share operational and technical experiences, discuss common issues and exchange practical insights. The event aims to highlight the real challenges faced in daily VTS operations and gather input that will help shape future work items for the IALA VTS Committee, ensuring that upcoming documentation reflects the needs of those working at the frontline of VTS delivery.

WWA mission in The Gambia

The Gambia Maritime Administration hosted the IALA Efficient Procurement for Marine Aids to Navigation course from 12 till 16 January at Banjul. Among participants from the Maritime Administration, Gambia Ports Authority and other national stakeholders also international students were welcomed. Maritime professionals from Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Liberia and Sierra Leone were present. The next week a review of the 2019 technical needs assessment mission took place. The Gambia and Portuguese Navy facilitated the technical tour with 2 RIB, and valuable AtoN user input was provided by the captain on the passenger ferry bridge. The last day the Academy expert briefed the Permanent Secretary of all outcomes and she was informed of the status for The Gambia acceding to the IALA Convention. Many thanks to Gambia Maritime Administration for organising all events in such a professional way.
